Privacy & your data

Your financial records stay on your iPhone. If you request beta access on this website, we store your email so we can contact you about the beta.

Who is responsible?

Darkmatter Ventures, established in the Netherlands, is the controller for beta requests and support messages. Contact us at testflight@usefreely.app about privacy, access to your data or removal.

Requesting beta access

We save your email address, the time of your request, its expiry date and the version of this notice. Submitting the form asks us to email you about beta access; your consent is the basis for this use. We do not add you to unrelated marketing lists, sell your address or collect financial information through this form. Providing an email is optional, but we need one to contact you about access.

Requests expire after 180 days. Expired requests are excluded from the operator’s list immediately and deleted from the live database by a daily cleanup or the next signup or operator request, whichever happens first. You can withdraw consent or ask for earlier deletion by emailing us. Withdrawing does not affect processing already carried out. Deleted data may remain in the hosting provider’s recovery backups for up to 30 days.

Hosting, security and access

The website and beta-request database run on Cloudflare in an account controlled by Darkmatter Ventures. The request database is configured to store and process data within the European Union. Only our authorized operator can view, export or remove the request list. We use short-lived, pseudonymous network identifiers and request counts to limit abuse; these expire after 15 minutes and are removed by the daily cleanup or the next signup or operator request, whichever happens first. We do not store raw IP addresses in the signup database.

Cloudflare necessarily handles connection information such as IP addresses and security logs. Cloudflare may set essential security cookies to protect the site from automated abuse. Fonts and screenshots are served from our own website. We do not add advertising or analytics trackers. Private operator sign-in uses Cloudflare Access; visitors do not need an account to request access. Cloudflare may process connection and security information outside the European Economic Area under their applicable data-protection arrangements. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The iPhone beta

Freely stores transactions, budgets, bills, Wealth holdings, tax documents and optional captured-payment details locally on your iPhone. The app has no Freely account or finance backend, does not sync financial records between devices, and has no advertising or analytics SDK. Darkmatter Ventures does not receive your financial records automatically.

Your system backups may include app records. A Freely export contains financial information; you choose where to save or share it. Erase all records removes the current workspace and its local recovery copy, but does not remove exports or system backups elsewhere. Deleting the app can remove local records. Export before changing devices. Restoring a backup replaces the workspace rather than merging it.

Optional prices and exchange rates

The current beta integration uses Coinbase for crypto, Twelve Data for stock quotes and Frankfurter for currency reference rates. When enabled, lookups send public symbols, exchange identifiers, currency pairs and requested dates directly to those providers. They do not include your quantities, balances, purchase prices, merchants or notes. Providers receive connection information, including your IP address, and apply their own retention policies: Coinbase, Twelve Data and Frankfurter.

Your optional Twelve Data key is stored in this device’s Keychain and sent only to Twelve Data. It is excluded from financial exports. Remove it in Settings → Market data → Disconnect stock provider. Erasing financial records does not revoke your provider account or key. Manual valuations remain available.

Optional payment capture

If enabled, your own Shortcuts automation supplies the payment fields you configure. Freely does not read all Wallet history or connect to your bank. Imported details and review decisions stay with your local records. You can pause capture in Freely. Capture opt-in is excluded from exports and system backups; restoring pauses capture.

Support and TestFlight feedback

If you contact us, we receive the address, message and attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate issues, based on our legitimate interest in supporting and improving Freely. We keep support correspondence while resolving the request and for up to 180 days afterwards, unless we must retain specific information to meet a legal obligation. Redact financial details and never send passwords, API keys or bank credentials.

If you receive a TestFlight invitation, Apple automatically collects installation, usage and crash information and shares it with the app developer. Feedback you choose to send can also include screenshots and diagnostic details. We use this information to investigate issues and improve Freely, and apply the support-retention period above to copies we keep. Apple applies its own retention periods. Freely does not automatically attach your financial backup. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information.

Your rights and choices

You may ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data we hold, restrict its use, object where we rely on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent. Email testflight@usefreely.app; we may need to verify that the request is yours. We normally respond within one month. You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority or your local supervisory authority.

You control local app records through editing, export and erasure. Manage system backups with Apple and exported copies at their destination. Provider-held data is subject to that provider’s process. We do not use beta-request data to make automated decisions about you.
